Sawai Madhopur – Panic spread in Khandip village when a Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus), one of the world’s largest vultures, which had strayed from abroad, fell to the ground due to exhaustion and injury. This rare species, also known as the Black Vulture or Monk Vulture, is considered the largest vulture of the Old World, measuring 1.2 meters in length, with a wingspan of 3.1 meters and weighing approximately 14 kilograms.

Upon seeing the injured vulture, the villagers immediately informed snake rescuer Ravi. Snake rescuer Meena from Nayagaon also arrived at the scene after being notified. Ravi identified the vulture and, understanding the seriousness of the situation, informed the Forest Department in the presence of village youth Rinku, Manraj Meena (who arrived from the hospital), Jawan Singh Mohacha, and other senior citizens of the village.
When the Forest Department team arrived, snake rescuer Ravi carefully rescued the vulture and handed it over to the officials for treatment. Forest Officer Suresh Gurjar praised Ravi’s efforts, stating that he has been making significant contributions to wildlife conservation and public awareness for many years.
The villagers also breathed a sigh of relief that this rare and protected bird received timely treatment and its life was saved.
